What inspires Me!
This was an ad campaign for Conde Nast Traveler. The gloves are a humorist statement regarding Louis Vuitton. The iguana's are a way of talking about Nicaragua. And the restaurant menu in Burmese is given all as a forewarning to use the Traveler before traveling abroad. I found this a very interesting concept in advertising. I liked the play on element to make their point.

I love the Golden brand of acrylics! I have painted with them for years. Even though my first love is the watercolor medium, I spent many years painting acrylics as well. Recently, I found out that Golden has started producing a watercolor called QoR. This is exciting news! This product includes some of the most translucent and vivid colors on the market. But I wouldn't guess that from there marketing campaign. As an artist this graphic design is not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Yes there are vivid reds and golds, but nothing to show that this watercolor is any different then other watercolors on the market. I want to change that... I found this advertising to be extremely clever. The twist on the eye of the peacock feather and the human eye is very creative. Not only because the peacock feather is amazingly beautiful, but the viewer is drawn into the advertising. We see in the caption, the beauty of being yourself, in looks, in dress, in living. This cover design draws the attention to the article in the magazine. The bottom graphic is also using the peacock feather to give the viewer a look at the colors in eye makeup. The advertisement is promoting the brilliance of eye colors that most represent the colors in the peacock feather. Your eyes will look stunning if you wear this makeup. Very Clever! I really like this design. To me it shows the artistic perspective relating to the company that it is advertising. Strathmore. This company is one of the most accessible artist paper companies on the market. I do not use there watercolor paper, due to my own preferences, but seeing this ad creates a desire to try their product.
I am a non-traditional student majoring in the field of Communications with a minor in art. The reason that I picked Communications as my major has to do with what I do for a living. I am a caregiver for a person with schizophrenia and an art teacher. Some of the work that I do with my client is in the field of therapeutic art. Art as a form of therapy is very powerful for anyone. It has such incredible healing properties.
I also teach beginning and advanced watercolor classes in Bonita. I will be teaching silk painting this coming fall. As part of my graduation requirements I have to take art classes, so I decided to take graphic design. I have written a book and want to illustrate it, this gives me a chance to put some of my ideas into practice. I have traveled throughout the United States doing art shows and owned a gallery in Gualala, California before coming to Florida. I have spent the majority of my life in some area related to the arts. Something that is interesting about me is I have a wander lust. I love to travel and see new places and explore new adventures.
